Our friend, Karen, arrived. We visited the remains of a palace in Klungkung, Bali. Most of it was destroyed by the Dutch. It was also the sight of a mass massacre/suicide. During a Dutch attack, the Balinese, including women fought only armed with a kris, a ritual dagger . The Dutch fought with guns and massacred the group.
Only a small section of the palace remains and is covered with spectacular paintings.
A sad story but the remains of the palace, and art, do indeed look quite spectacular. Thanks for posting these pictures. Everyone looks like they're having an amazing visit to Indonesia.
