We saw a cremation yesterday for about 40 people in Bali. There were only two whole bodies. The others were pictures of the deceased or fragments of the body. It is expensive to have a cremation so bodies are buried in wait for a big cremation on an auspicious day with many others to share the cost. Sometimes the entire body is exhumed, but more often of a piece of skin or bone is exhumed before dawn on the cremation day and the fragment is burned .
